Five on Friday {3.28.14}

I've neglected my poor little blog so much recently. The days have been running together and at the end of the day, the last thing I want to do is sit down and write a blog post. Just bein' honest. It happens and hopefully soon I will get back into writing more regularly :)

But for now, let's celebrate that it's FRIDAY, the last one of March to be exact (wait, how did March fly by so fast!?), oh and it's 52* here- feels like summer! Things are starting to look up!!

Some of my favorite things this week included....

ONE.
Love love love. So perfect and beyond true!! Thank you Morgan for sharing on pinterest:)

TWO.
Last night I was talking to a friend and she told me about the UNICEF Tap project. For every 10 minutes that you don't touch you phone, money will be donated to provide water to children in need. At first I thought how hard it would be, but I began doing homework and completely forgot about my phone! It seemed I got to 40 minutes in the blink of an eye, so I decided to keep going since I was still doing work. It was a great motivator to get work done as well as helping children in need!! It also became a competition between my friends as to who could go longest without touching our phones! Was so much easier than I thought! To read more about it, click HERE!

THREE.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who just learned the correct way to wear a bobby pin!?

FOUR.
Sometimes watching Sex and the City with a glass of wine is just necessary. You may find me doing just this tonight

FIVE.
Speaking of SATC, makes me miss these ladies so much

Linking up with the Five on Friday ladies!

Five on Friday {3.21.14}

Longest week of my life? I think YES!
So let's get right to the good stuff!

[ONE]
Wednesday was Anchors, Pearls, and Curls one year blogiversary!! I completely spaced out. It was on my calendar and everything..school got in the way and totally forgot! When I started my little blog one year ago, I had no idea what to expect. Honestly, I didn't even know if I would've lasted a year. But I guess I made it because I'm still here :) Throughout the past year, I've "met" so so so many incredible, inspiring women! It's been so much fun to connect with other bloggers and finding out how much we all have in common. Can't wait to see what the next year has in store!!

A few of my favorite posts from the last year:
Gift giving: 1 and 2
50 things
Erica's Visit
Favorite Quote(s)
Traveling: Carolina's and Dream Vacations
The Glam Series: Hair

[TWO]
Spring is technically here!!! However, seeing snow flurries and clouds all day has me thinking otherwise. Thanks to Vineyard Vines, I'll be crossing off some of these fun spring activities once it starts to warm up! What's your favorite Spring activity?

[THREE]
Cheering on one of my favorite teams during March Madness!! Let's go Nova!!!

[FOUR]

[FIVE]
I wouldn't be complaining if these shoes ended up in my closet ;) Classy and perfect for SPRING!!

21 Things I've Learned...

Turning 21 really got me thinking about my life thus far. I began to look back on many of the lessons I've learned in the past 21 years. Actually, about the last 3-5 years have had the most significant lessons. I'm excited to see where 21 takes me, I'm loving the journey so far :)
  1. There's always a grander plan- even if you can't see it right away.
  2. Do you. Take care of yourself.
  3. You need to know what comforts and restores you. For me, it's the beach and spending time with girlfriends.
  4. Live in the moment. You're only in this stage of your life once.
  5. Friends come and go through different seasons. Some are longer than others. If these "friends" are only bringing you down, let them go. Don't let them overstay their welcome.
  6. It's never to late to start working out and becoming healthy. Focus on it one day at a time- you WILL get there. Be patient.
  7. Find one good thing in every day. It's amazing how that small thing can bring so much positivity.
  8. It's okay to not have everything figured out at this point in your life. Things will fall into place when the time is right. It has taken me such a long time to figure this one out- some days I still struggle with this. Considering as a little girl I wanted to be married with 3 kids by the age of 22. I don't see that happening for quite some time ;)
  9. Be kind.
  10. Learn to love yourself without a signifigant other. Finally becoming comfortable with this.
  11. Blogging has been such a creative outlet and I've met so many wonderful, inspiring women.
  12. My Momma has become my best friend. She's there through thick and thin, and actually means it.
  13. Change is scary, learn to embrace it. Our greatest accomplishments didn't come from our comfort zones.
  14. Laugh. A lot.
  15. You will see people's true colors- when you see do, remove these people from your life. They are not worth your time or energy.
  16. If there's ever an opportunity to take a trip to the beach, DO IT.
  17. Being home is always worth it. It allows time to become grounded and refreshed.
  18. Some of the greatest blessings come from things we didn't even know we wanted or needed.
  19. A fresh coat of nail polish can cure a multitude of sins.
  20. Always turn to God. In triumphs, trials and lulls, He is there even if it doesn't seem He is.
  21. You are enough. Allow no one to tell you otherwise.

Weekend Recap: 21st Birthday

I may be am crying that it's already Monday. How do the weekends go so fast?! Especially when it's my birthday! Since the March 16th went by in a blink, I've decided that I'm going to celebrate for the rest of the month...that's acceptable, right?!

Saturday I spent the day at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets with my Momma and aunt. It was a blast and the weather was absolutely perfect- 65 and sunny!! Finally some Spring weather! I bought so many cute things but my favorite was this Gap maxi dress below! Cannot wait to wear it :) ...just need to find 5' heels because it's super long #shortgirlproblems

Later that night we celebrated with dinner and drinks! We had the best time and were the only one's in the bar. It was like our own private party- couldn't have asked for a better night!! Having my bff Liz there also made it super special because I hadn't seen her in months. Loved.every.second.of.it.

This weekend was honestly perfect. I couldn't feel more blessed. It was once again a reminder of how lucky I am and that I was able to be surrounded by the best family and friends. They spoiled me way too much!!

Five on Friday!

This week FLEW!! Absolutely hate when that happens! Why is it the one week I'm home for break it's a blink!? No fair! Anyway, I'm linking up with Christina and my favorite ladies today!

{one}
Came across this article yesterday and I could not stop laughing. It will be so true when my friends start getting married. If you've ever been a bridesmaid or helped plan a wedding, then I'm sure you can relate!! Thanks Cosmo :)

Sunday will be one to remember! Excited to celebrate with family and friends who will be home! {follow me on ig: krd5170 for updates!}

OBSESSED with this song. I'm always late getting on the music bandwagon- ask any of my friends and they'll agree. But I've listened to this song about 50 times in the past three days. No joke.

{four}
Can I please live here in the summer?!

So refreshing knowing that some of the best days of our lives haven't even happened yet. How AWESOME is that?!

Shamrock Shake: Update

So I completed the Shamrock Shakes 10 day challenge. Woah, was I shocked by the results!!! I'll be the first to admit how hesitant I was to try Shakeology. I asked around A LOT, researched and honestly wasn't even sure if it was the right program for me. But, the most consistent thing I heard when asking around was "no cravings and so much energy" and they were SPOT.ON! Here's a little spotlight on what I found through my beginning journey:

Throughout the 10 days I...
-drank more water than I think I had in my entire life
-CRAVED exercise (that's a first)
-was barely hungry/Shakeology kicked the cravings
-learned how filling the shakes are! My first day I was expecting to  have a shake and fruit or something small- y'all I was so full from the shake (eaten at lunch) I didn't eat anything until around 6pm that night and even then I was still pretty full. INSANE!
-ate clean
-had more energy than I can recall on any weight watcher program I was on
-had an AWESOME accountability group. I think this was one of the best things because (at least for me) it made me want to say on program and focused. Also got many great recipes and clean eating ideas!
-kept a food journal (very accountable too)
-WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING! Even if you had a few extra chips- we're all human! But it allows you to see it on paper because you don't realize how many things you put in your mouth until it's on paper!
-I found more strength and discipline in myself that I didn't know I even had!

So, this morning I took measurements and this is what I found out..... :)
Drumroll.....
10.5 inches!!! (after 10 days!!)
Gone! And never coming back!!!!!
There's another challenge coming up and I'm so excited to be apart of it! Cannot wait to order the DVDs and start the program again! I'll get off of my soap box but it's honestly one of the greatest programs and is SO easy!!! If you're hesitant about Shakeology, have questions, anything, email me or my awesome and supportive coach, Charlotte!!

Lent goal: Grace Not Perfection
Love this and realized instead of necessarily giving something up I wanted to focus on this statement. Such a powerful statement, let it sink in!
