#blogeveryday: A story of traveling: Chapel Hill, Charleston & Charlotte

Today's post goes perfectly with yesterday's when I talked about my favorite travel spots. It then occurred to me that I never shared my FAVORITE trip to date. So don't mind me that this post is 5 months behind!! Whoops! In the beginning of August, we hopped on a plane down South. Momma and I called it the "three C's trip": Chapel Hill, Charleston, Charlotte!
Sorry in advance for this picture/detail heavy post :)

Days 1-3:
Greensboro, NC
We flew into Greensboro airport then driving about an hour west to my Aunt's. Staying in her SUPER small town of about 4,000 people was quite the experience!! That's almost the size of my neighborhood. Okay- not really but you get the point. I actually loved it because it was so different from what I'm used to- but would be quite bored fast if we stayed longer ;)
Cutest church I have ever seen and probably only holds about 70-80 people!!
Our Main Street looks very different than the one in Elkin!
One of the best meals was shared at 6th and Main

Day 3:
Chapel Hill, NC
Where to even begin- Chapel Hill stole my heart from the minute we arrived into town. It was so quaint and had the best feeling in the world. If you've ever been there, you know what I'm talking about. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Spanky's was the first restaurant we saw, so my momma, aunt and I decided to stop! Quaint + great food! Chicken sandwich with avocado...to die for!
After lunch we took a walk around campus. As if I wasn't already smitten with Franklin Street, I fell more in love with the campus. Gorgeous scenery
Rumor has it that the Old Well brings good luck to those who drink from it. You bet I took a gulp ;)

Day 4:
En route to Charleston
Much to our surprise, when we arrived in Charleston it was humid and sunny! Woohoo! Those storms the whole way were nasty!!! Quickly unpacked our bags and headed out to tour the town.
Grabbed a bite to eat at Poogan's Porch and crawled into bed! Needed our zzzz's to take on the next day's adventures!
Day 5:
Having breakfast delivered to our room every morning was heaven!! I enjoyed that while I could :) Our day started off walking around the Charleston Market. Seeing so many vendors  and their masterpieces was really neat. One of my favorites was seeing each of their sweetgrass creations. Super awesome!!

By the time we finished there, it was time for lunch! One of the sweet vendors recommended Mad River. YUMMM. Awesome atmosphere + decor. We loved it so much, that we went back a second time! Yikes :)
Funny story: Our waitress was from my hometown (back in PA) and happened to move to Charleston just to travel and try something new. She was my age and went to a neighboring high school. Small world, y'all!!
A horse-drawn carriage ride was then in order- showing off the historical spots of Charleston. Loved hearing about the rich history! Really neat!
Not to mention the adorable houses!!!!!
We then went back to the B&B and took a nap. Exhausted!! That night we went to the Battery. Breathtaking. Pictures can't even describe the view we actually saw!!

Day 6:
South Carolina Aquarium + Boone Hall Plantation + Isle of Palms
Morning rain forced us indoors to the aquarium. It turned out being one of the greatest points in the trip. While we were at the aquarium they were having a turtle hospital exhibit. One of the coolest things I've ever witnessed. There were multiple tanks with a variety of turtles who were all at the "hospital" for different reasons.
Boone Hall was really neat to see! Typical tourest-y spot :)
Picture perfect day to put my toes in the water at Isle of Palms
Day 7:
Last day in Charleston...crocodile tears. Okay, that might be exaggerating buuuut it's (one of) the best cities, so I was sad! We took our last walk around town before getting in the car and driving to Charlotte!
There were sooo many restaurants and tourest-y spots Momma and I wanted to go if time permitted, but I have to say we packed a lot in for a short amount of time!

Days 8-10:
Charlotte, NC
One of my other aunt's lives in Charlotte so stopping was a must before hopping back on the plane. This part of the trip was a whirlwind due to the timing and complete exhaustion!! I honestly wish we spent more time here because so many of my "bloggy friends" live in the Charlotte area and it just sounds great!! Alas, the rest of the sight seeing will be for another trip!

I never wanted to come home. Hands down my favorite trip and would go back again in a heartbeat!!! Reliving these memories makes my heart so happy. God is so good!!
This was also one of the longest posts, ever. So if you made it to the bottom...props to you!
